We, though no longer dependent and powerless children, often live for a replay (or the missing) of approval and recognition that we needed to know we were safe and would be fed and would survive.
Since only the fool tries to control what cannot be controlled (people and circumstances), it is eminently worthwhile considering living life giving up on waiting for approval or recognition of how good or effective or wonderful you are and learning the relatively brief process of knowing that you are ok and and can love and approve of yourself. We often do things and hope someone will recognize them, sprinkling the landscape with as many things as we can, hoping that something will attract attention - and wasting alot of life.
Don't wait for a streetcar in front of your house. It probably ain't never goin' ta come.
Consider living a life more like the 80/20 Person, who lives by a code of making the most important things happen in life, and never having to wait and hope for the lucky morsel to come his/her way.
